How to Survive Without Toilet Paper

It’s something most of us have always taken for granted. Since the mid-1800s in the United States (and since about 500 AD in China), toilet paper has been considered an essential commodity in nearly every home and public bathroom. But recent events have taught us that we can’t always rely on the availability of even the most basic necessities.

So what’s the alternative? Old newspapers? I guess so, but they’re pretty scratchy, and don’t even think about flushing them!

The other day I heard someone say, “I ran out of toilet paper, so now I’m having to use lettuce leaves. Today was the tip of the iceberg; tomorrow romaine’s to be seen.”
